We are sending you this email because we feel that you may be interested in
.NET development and may want to visit our meetings to help improve the
cohesiveness of the development community in New Orleans. Please feel free to
forward to other .NET developers as well. VBLG Meeting News: Monday we demonstrated using the Scripting Encoder object to help us with
simple encoding needs. We demonstrated a 1 way encryption and encoding scripts
in HTML pages. We used the Scripting Runtime control which most people are
familiar with because it contains the File System Objects. We referenced the
Encoder with VB6. We then showed how to create a shaped form class using VB.NET, most of the
group was suprised at how little code we actually wrote. We demonstrated an easy
way to create a form with transparent regions that spelled out VBLG. We also
made added button that changed the shape of our form on the fly. Lastly we spent a good portion of the meeting working with automatically
related grids. We demonstrated the ease of creating a connection and data
adapter using the Server Explorer. We also created some DataSets as well. We
then proceeded to bind the datasets to a datagrid and then connect the a few
grids to simulate parent/child relationships with as little code as possible. ----------------- Don't forget May 5th we will have a guest speaker. Just so you know, Paul
Litwin's course here in New Orleans on May 6th costs $369 for a 6 hour class. He
will be stopping by the VBLG/GNONUG for an hour or so on May 5th. Please visit
http://www.ineta.org to find out more about Paul. He will be presenting a topic
on Controls in .NET. I believe he will discuss user and custom controls. We
should have a few door prizes for those attending the meetings and signing up
for VBLG/GNONUG membership. We would also like to thank Mike Clark for being the keymaster for the past
year or so. Mike has been available almost every Monday to open the meeting
room, setup the projector, and setup the PC. Mike has volunteered his time, but
now he wants to pass the keys along. So, to make this simple, I need another
volunteer. Previous volunteers have been John Maggiorre, Jim Veitch, and Gordon
Rush. So, if anyone else would like to take on the responsibility for helping
the VBLG and GNONUG please step up to the task. ASP.NET Connections and Visual Studio Connections (www.devconnections.com) is
being held here in New Orleans from May 6th-May10th. I will be attending, and I
hope to see some of you as well. Please email me so I can make a list of those
people I should look for. Tapes: Posted reviews: Join our mailing list on yahoo |
